Sam Basketball Interview
Our group story was about an Olathe Northwest junior Sam that has a amazing basketball background. We did a FaceTime call and talked about his basketball background and what he enjoy's. During pre-production we brainstormed different ideas, our first one was about the engineering program or the recent play. DJ then came up with the idea of basketball but we didn't want to just talk about the sport overall, we wanted to talk about one person. DJ knew about Sam's basketball background and then we heard about it which was great. When we were scripting the questions, we had a easy time coming up with basketball questions and about his background. Then when it came to filming, we got him and started to interview. My role was being the director, I had to make sure everyone was fulfilling their roles. I also just helped others when they needed it. I helped with getting footage and coming up with a couple of questions to ask Sam.
When it came to finally filming the interview portion, that's where it went down hill. As a group we didn't have any headphones to plug into the camera, so we had to just try and make sure all of the settings were right. After we checked them, we filmed the entire interview. Then we looked back at the footage, we tried to listen but it was just nat noise. Our group had to tell Sam that he would have to come into Raven50 and refilm, but we just decided to do a FaceTime call. When it came time to filming, we were listening to the audio and we still had none. We had to problem solve fast and what my group decided to do was to just put in voice over work the entire video.
Next time, I will make sure that we check the sound with headphones and not just assume. It was hard to just keep on going even though we didn't have any audio again. I would approach this assignment better with trying to get more stuff done before hand. I tried hard after realizing we didn't have anymore audio. Throughout this experience I will pull out being open to new ideas. I enjoy being able to build off of each others ideas to build up a great story.
