Sophomore Graphic Design Final

In graphic design I have created many different designs in many different projects. One of my top projects was the infographic project. The infographic project was when we had to research one of our topics we wanted to and then create designs for the facts that we researched in Adobe Illustrator. I decided to research about star fish because I love them and the ocean. This project took me about 2-3 weeks to complete all of the graphics and design. I faced a challenge of having to create original and thought out designed, it was hard for me to think of something that I could create. I learned more tools and how to create a simple to complex design that I could do in Adobe Illustrator that I didn't think I could transfer my ideas from paper to computer. I asked my graphic design teacher multiple times on feed back with how to tweak my designs to make them look better. I think that I did a good job of incorporating the ocean into the background for star fish and how it flows together but I could of maybe put boxes around each fact.

Another one of my favorite projects in graphic design was the event advertising. The event advertising project was when we had to choose between a art show or concert. I decided to choose a concert because I really enjoy music and I like Ed Sheeran's music a lot. This project took me about 3-4 weeks to complete all of the graphics and design that went into each of the pieces. I faced a challenge of having to figure out the layout of my main poster and deciding if I should put the artist onto it or not. I learned more about how I can design many different layouts and incorporate many different designs so many ways. I asked my peers and graphic design teacher multiple times on feed back with how I could redesign something or which layout was the best. I think that I did a good job of trying to stay with the same theme as his album cover to incorporate into each piece.

Finally, my last favorite project that we created in graphic design was the logo project. The logo project was when we had to first start out by sketching out designs that incorporated our names into it and then take it over into Adobe Illustrator. I had to choose my top 5 favorite and then decide the top one after designing them on the computer. This project took me about 2-3 weeks to complete all of the different designs. I faced a challenge of having to create original and thought out designs, it was hard for me to think of 30 different designs that incorporated my initials or name. I learned more ways that I could create my designs other than just one way. I got feed back from my peers the most and different ways to layout my designs. I thought I was creative with how many different designs I created that were all really different.

Throughout graphic design I stayed productive by setting deadlines for myself to complete things by a certain time. I did get completed with my work early many times but that was way better than finishing late. When I would complete my work early I would start on the next project or start to just work on other class assignments. Over the course of the year, I learned different ways to stay on task and technical skills after every project that I will be able to take with me and grow on next year. I did critique my own projects and changing things over and over again until I was pleased with what I created with the help of my peers and graphic design teacher also. I could practice working on just sketching different designs for things and I work on Adobe Illustrator in robotics a lot, so I get more practice with that.

Being a eCommunication student has given me so many different skills and opportunities that many other people don't get at all. I have learned a lot of social skills and technical skills along the past 2 years. In eComm I get to interact with my peers everyday and forming friendships along the way with everyone everyday. For my technical skills, I have gained time management skills for having to create and meet deadlines every week and making them myself also. I have been able to take out the skills I have gained in this program throughout my everyday.

Everyone does need to improve in many different areas but I need to improve in a couple. I can improve in how I could utilize my time better and how I could stay focused better. Closer to the end of the year started to just start right as the bell rings and just push through the class and stay more focused. I could also collaborate more with my peers better and get more of their feed back. I also could give my peers my feedback some more and help them out also. It's important to look back at what you need to work on and take it and work on what you need to improve on everyday.

In conclusion, I really enjoyed how much our class bonded throughout the year this year because it helped everyone feel comfortable to talk to each other. I would change maybe being more collaborative in projects and working with other people on projects. I would like to set learning more about the Adobe programs that I could improve on and learn more about.
